Developer - Java
You will work primarily as a server-side Java developer as part of a large collaborative agile development team. You will collaborate closely with experienced developers and have the opportunity to learn and grow in this role.
You will be required to liaise directly with internal clients including Business Unit Risk Management and Collateral Operations in order to gather requirements and identify creative ways to solve business problems. This will involve learning about Collateral and Exposure Management and related business functions.
You will develop functionality/features in an iterative fashion, writing user stories, full unit and integration tests for each function that is developed. You will be required to liaise with other members or the team and clients to precisely specify the functionality that will be developed, while working with team members and our partners to ensure that all functionality is fully UAT tested before being released to production.
You will also be responsible for continuously improving the quality of our system and codebase including code reviews and refactoring where necessary.
The Collateral Management team develops and maintains IT systems that enable the exposure management and margin call processing for OTC bilateral derivatives, clearing and listed derivatives. Collateral and exposure management is an important counterparty risk management function of Morgan Stanley and the technology team partners with the Business Unit Risk Management, Bank Resource Management and Collateral Operations team to deliver solutions that drive the firm's needs. We have a strong, distributed agile developer team located in New York and Mumbai with around 40 people in total. The team works on major critical initiatives for the firm, including regulatory and business enablement projects. There is a good deal of collaborative team work both within the team and with our clients (Business Unit Risk Management, Bank Resource Management and Collateral Operations) and other IT groups within the firm.
