BlackRock Index/Market Data Strategic Relationship Manager

Overview:
BlackRock is seeking a team-oriented individual who can immediately add value to its Index and Market Data Relationship Management team. The team is responsible for index provider and market data management and strategies. The Vice President position will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of index and market data products and services to support the firm's investment processes and provide guidance and counsel to internal clients.

  • Knowledge of Index and Market Data products and services preferred
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey perspectives and analysis to stakeholders
  • Commercial contract knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously and build strong professional relationships with internal clients and data sources
  • Knowledge of finance and investments
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, responsive and be able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and legal in the negotiation of various index and market data agreements to attain beneficial commercial terms and mitigate business risk
  • Development of strategic sourcing opportunities through the introduction of a competitive marketplace, demand management, supplier consolidation, and process reengineering
  • Implement strategic planning for sourcing services at the group, departmental and divisional levels
  • Manage index and data relationships and negotiate related agreements
  • Track and communicate internally industry trends and market intelligence
  • Communicate to clients the commercial obligations stemming from provider contracts
  • Work with manager to develop and manage strategic sourcing plans to achieve efficiencies, while maintaining the highest possible levels of service
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience with index providers, data vendors, and/or stock exchanges
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and build strong relationships with internal clients and data sources
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, responsive and be able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to network and influence others without direct oversight and supervision
  • Undergraduate college degree, preferably in finance, business, economics, accounting or computer science
  • Asset Management business and/or technology background is a major plus
