Financial Management Group - Product Control, Executive

The Financial Management Group (FMG) is focused on managing Macquarie's funding and capital, while providing strategic analysis and advice to Macquarie's businesses and senior management. It ensures Macquarie continues to meet its financial regulatory and compliance obligations. The Finance Division supports Macquarie's operating groups by providing financial management and control, management reporting and forecasting, regulatory reporting and business advisory services. The division works closely with Treasury, Tax and Investor Relations to support each of Macquarie's Operating Groups.

Macquarie is opening a Global Finance Services center in Jacksonville in early 2016, creating a range of highly skilled financial services jobs. Our Global Finance Services (GFS) team focuses on improving scalability and efficiency by centralizing Macquarie-wide finance activities and processes.

We are seeking candidates who are comfortable working in a collaborative environment with modern systems and technologies, who have a natural tendency to problem solve, and who continually think about improving the way things are done.

Macquarie is excited to be coming to Jacksonville - candidate interviews will commence in late 2015 with the Macquarie Jacksonville office opening in early 2016.

Product Control delivers product accounting and associated P&L production / analysis for the trading activities within Macquarie Group (namely the Commodities & Financial Markets Group (CFM) and the Macquarie Securities Group (MSG)). Covering all regions including ANZ, Asia, EMEA and Americas, this function is involved in providing daily P&L reporting, daily system and ledger reconciliations and controls, performing the month end and period end general ledger close and monthly balance sheet substantiation. This team has close and efficient interaction with the Front Office, Middle Office and IT as well as other parts of Finance including Financial Control on a daily basis to ensure the timely and accurate financial and regulatory reporting of the Macquarie trading businesses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and analysis of daily profit and loss reports
  • Reconciliation of daily cash movements and funding requirements
  • Month-end activities including: posting month end journals, review of intercompany balances, transfer pricing, reconciliation of the balance sheet
  • Drive own efficiency (speed of delivery)
  • Seek to improve presentation in each report to aid business review
  • Liaise and communicate with other internal departments where appropriate, in particular Front Office, Operations, Settlements, Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting, Corporate Reporting and Taxation.
  • Regularly maintain documentation of various processes and procedures so to keep them up to date
  • Continually question and attempt to improve the control environment that the business operates in
  • Take initiative in developing new products or processes
  • Act as a sounding board and provide advice to more junior staff on areas of product control

What this means for you:

  • Bachelors Degree, in accounting and/or finance
  • Hold a professional accounting qualification, preferably a CPA
  • Minimum 2-4 years of post CPA qualification experience or minimum of 6 - 7 years of experience for non CPAs
  • Background in product control or a chartered environment with exposure to financial instruments is an added advantage
