Associate - Risk and Finance Analytics Advisory
Location: San Francisco, CA, USARole/Responsibilities:
This posting is for a position within Risk and Finance Analytics (RAFA), a business unit of ERS. RFA Advisory Associates work alongside other consultants under the guidance of Engagement Managers to solve regulatory and business challenges faced by today's financial institutions. Generally, engagements involve the development, customization, and implementation of credit portfolio and risk measurement solutions. Associates will gain first-hand experience applying their skills to solve our clients' real-world problems, and to help interpret the results in a business context. Ideal candidates for this role will also be able to conduct research projects with limited oversight, have strong communication (verbal and presentation) and organizational skills, be detail oriented, and possess strong quantitative abilities.
Associates will have the opportunity to learn and become highly proficient at quantifying risk in credit portfolios of commercial banks and other financial institutions. Examples of analysis include working with large datasets, forecasting defaults and loss severities, estimating loss reserves, stress testing, and conducting other types of empirical analysis. The candidate will need to possess the ability to break down their analysis into detailed steps and explain the process used to arrive at results.
Travel requirements generally around 20%, but the actual frequency may vary depending on client needs.
Representative projects in RAFA Advisory, San Francisco include advising clients on meeting the CECL and IFRS-9 requirements, with a particular focus on the measurement of the impact on the credit portfolios, CCAR/DFAST stress testing, economic capital analysis, risk-based pricing, risk rating enhancement, PD/LGD/EAD modeling, ALLL quantification and Basel II/III implementation. RAFA advisory staff work closely with Moody's Analytics Research team and leverage data and research from multiple sources across Moody's Corporation.
Enterprise Risk Solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics or related field
- Coursework in Statistics, Probability, Calculus, Econometrics etc.
- Working knowledge of statistical software such as R, MATLAB, WPS, SAS, Stata, Minitab, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Master's degree in a quantitative field
- Experience in Visual Basic, SQL or other similar programming languages
- Work Experience at a commercial bank or management consulting firm
- Familiarity with Moody's products (RiskCalc, CMM, RiskFrontier, CreditEdge, etc.)
- Professional designations such as CFA, FRM, and PRM
