Opportunity for the true career minded. Opportunity to work for a hugely exciting business in a ambitious state of mind! This role has a BaU element to it, however, the non BaU elements will offer huge opportunity for both personal and professional development, including project work and playing a lead role in the ground up rebuilding of the function, with a focus on data management / quality, process re-engineering etc..

The Opportunity:

  • This is a newly created role working for an award winning and ambitious asset management business that is going through a hugely exciting phase in its business cycle
  • Working for a highly experienced Head of Performance, this role represents a real opportunity to join a team and function that is being rebuilt from the ground-up in order to continue to meet the ever increasing demands of the business as it grows
  • Due to an increase in fund and asset class complexity, your exposure and involvement with complex fixed income derivatives as well as alternative investment fund strategies will mean that you’re constantly learning and developing from a professional perspective
  • This role also potentially offers the right candidate a developmental opportunity in terms of ultimately taking on more leadership responsibilities within the team, as well as taking a lead with regard to project related initiatives
  • Whilst there are of course more BaU elements of the role, the rebuilding of the function, focus around data quality, scalable procedures and increased efficiencies, as well as the building of meaningful relationships with key internal stakeholders including the investment teams means that this role will NOT suit somebody purely interested in only the BaU
  • The following are the more BaU elements of the role:
  • Providing complete quality control over all output from the performance team
  • Assuring data quality used for performance measurement/analytics both for the products, their benchmarks and peer group performances; ensuring the accurate maintenance of internal and external databases and information sources
  • Regular performance measurement, investigation and analysis/narrative, including both the absolute and relative (benchmark, peer), both in gross and net of fee terms
  • Ensuring the accurate monitoring of the difference between net official performance and estimated gross performance explaining the difference
  • Providing timely information around performance irregularities or abnormal patterns
  • Developing and implementing performance reports and analysis to support new products and new requirements
  • Production and delivery of ad-hoc performance related reports and analysis for all asset classes, financial instruments and portfolio types
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate processes to ensure production and delivery of performance reports using automated processes where possible
  • Ensuring all appropriate procedures in respect of principle tasks and accountabilities are accurately maintained
  • Participate in team projects designed to improve efficient analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Ensuring all GIPS composites are calculated monthly and the GIPS manual is reviewed regularly to maintain GIPS compliance. Run the GIPS Working Group
  • Establishing and maintaining constructive working relationships with all internal clients as well as external service providers
  • Owning the fund change log and ensuring all relevant changes/impacts are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring the Ad hoc log is accurate and up to date
  • Ensuring all Board reports are appropriate, accurate and delivered in a timely manner
  • Ensuring the specific requirements to support the Fixed Income investment team are met in an accurate and timely manner

Your Experience:

  • You will have a strong record of academic achievement, along with a relevant industry qualification (IMC; level of the CFA)
  • In terms of experience you will be an experienced Performance Analyst from a reputable asset management business, with strong fixed income attribution experience, and, a true understanding of how to calculate it, rather than just being able to “press a button”
  • Broad asset class knowledge would be helpful, including fixed income derivatives and alternative investment strategies
  • Have a “can-do” attitude and be delivery focused
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Have the confidence to be able to deal directly with Investment Professionals and be technically savvy enough to be of “added value”
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership skills, whether it be related to the overseeing of team tasks, or, project related initiatives
  • Knowledge of Factset would be highly advantageous
  • Be ambitious… hungry for success

The Company:

  • An Award Winning Asset Manager going through an unbelievably successful stage in its business cycle
  • Through growth and diversification of its product range, the company is well placed to continue its march towards establishing itself as one of the markets preeminent buy-side players
  • A culture that promotes both personal and professional development
