Team Profile:
The Securitized Products Group is responsible for the core technologies that process risk, products, and trades for the SPG business. We are looking for a Lead developer to join the Technology team aligned with the Deleveraging Lending Group (DLG), based in London. DLG originate and manage multi-billion dollar loans in the Commercial Real Estate and Warehouse lending businesses. The platform consists of a Java Web Server, which serves content from a Sybase database to two different front-ends. One front-end is desktop based, written in C# and WPF, the other is web based written using React.js, Redux and associated JavaScript libraries.

You will be the Lead Developer / Manager for the SPG Trading Technology team responsible for the technologies that support risk, valuation and pipe-line for the Lending desk in Europe. The core work of this team involves systems that support origination, asset-management, syndication, reporting and P&L for the desk. The role involves leading the Lending technology team in EMEA across two locations.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for managing and improving other developers within the team
  • You should be delivery-focused with a successful track-record of building distributed systems, both as an individual and as the lead of a team
  • You will work closely with end-users to capture requirements and identify solutions, which are then delivered to the desk
  • You will be responsible for tracking the pipeline of requirements, estimating delivery, monitoring progress and clearly reporting to BU and IT stakeholders
  • You will work with a global team to identify and deploy common, strategic solutions that support the needs of the team and overall business unit
  • You will be expected to deliver enterprise applications with the necessary testing and monitoring structures around them, so that that they provide resilient and stable platforms that support the business needs
  • You will need to understand volume growth to ensure that systems & infrastructure scale to meet ever-increasing demand


Qualifications:


Desired skills:
  • Strong Java skills on Unix/Linux platform
  • Strong background in developing and deploying enterprise software that runs in a complex, real-time environment
  • Strong background in application design, including receiving data streams from disparate sources, processing that data and feeding multiple consumers
  • Working knowledge of messaging, pub/sub and REST services
  • Capable of writing, maintaining and optimizing SQL (queries, sprocs, views, joins etc.)
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting problems in production environment
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage tasks, plan deliverables and report progress in a structured manner
  • Highly motivated, analytical thinker
  • Experience of managing a development team
  • JavaScript and Web development experience desirable (Not essential)
  • Sybase (ASE 15 or later) (Not essential)
  • Working knowledge of Fixed Income products and trading system (Not essential)
