Team Profile:
Morgan Stanley is the number one Equities house globally. TX is the Firms strategic trade capture platform for OTC Equity Derivative and the issuance of Equity Structured Note products. The platform is central to the Firms OTC and Structured activity, as well as being flexible enough to adapt to the latest demands from our trading desks.

We have an exciting opportunity for a well-rounded, front-to-back developer to join our global development team in London, working across the design and development of both server and client side components for the TX platform. The team has a strong technical ethos, utilising a range of technology such as Scala, Java, C#, Python and AngularJS with TypeScript, in addition to the Firms latest technologies, including Treadmill PaaS, Splunk-based LaaS and Service Discovery.

Role Profile:
We are looking for a strong team player who can contribute to the evolution of the platform, enabling us to support the ever increasing demands of the business as they respond to a competitive market place and volatile regulations. The role presents an excellent opportunity to work closely with our users in Sales, Trading and Operations to develop their skills in a complex and evolving business domain.

Key facts:


  • Server-side development using both Java (8) and Scala (2.11)

  • Client-side UIs developed in WPF (MVVM) and AngularJS

  • Extensive use of open source, including Spring, Gradle, Akka, Guava, Apache CXF, Commons and Zookeeper

  • Globally distributed platform deployed across Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and New York

  • Derivatives product knowledge




Qualifications:


Required Skills:
  • Solid commercial experience using at least one of C#, Scala or Java
  • Experience of basic SQL
  • Solid understanding of design patterns
  • Experience in automated testing
  • Desire to learn new technologies and business domain knowledge
  • Pragmatic attitude to problem solving
  • HTML5 technologies, Angular, Typescript, JavaScript would be beneficial
  • Some Python experience would be beneficial
