We are working with a leading insurance firm who are looking to add to their existing data science team in London. The team is a centralised team with a remit across the entire business working on issues ranging from fraud through to marketing. The majority of the work is strategic in nature and there is a large amount of creative freedom for the team to explore new ideas and approach things from different directions. The team have enjoyed success in the recent past of delivering analysis that has led to both significant cost savings and revenue generation.

The team is comprised of researchers, technologists and engineers that are dedicated to finding solutions from both a technological and analytical standpoint. You will working be working with the latest cutting edge systems within a collegiate, curious and cerebral environment. The firm remain at the vanguard of utilising, and innovating with, Big Data within the Insurance Sector and the hierarchy of the business are fully committed to growing the Data Science team both in size and remit.

The Data Scientist is responsible for taking existing results within machine learning and look to extend and adapt these results. A significant proportion of the role will also include conducting novel research.  The ideal candidate will have expertise in all aspects of Machine Learning including: predictive analytics, time series analysis, natural language processing and clustering.  The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the research process through the lifecycle including delivering the research and solutions into business lines. Therefore, communication skills are essential.

  • 3-5+ years of professional industry experience in an analytical environment
  • Top Tier Education: PhD in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • Significant Machine Learning / Deep Learning experience working toward predictive analytic insight
  • Strong scientific programming in Python, R or Matlab.
  • Expertise with Hadoop
  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred
  • Works well both independently and within collaborative environment
