Team Profile:

The Fund Accountants work very closely with Client Account Managers of Morgan Stanley Fund Services (MSFS) in ensuring accurate accounts and Net Asset Value calculations of their hedge fund clients and to review technical accounting, operating and performance related issues. Clients will invest in a wide range of securities and derivatives providing the Fund Accountant with exposure to complex investments.

The Financial Reporting Team is a group which prepares the Financial Statements and audit packs for the clients and their nominated auditors. The members of the Financial Reporting team work with the Account managers and the accountants responsible for the fund to prepare the annual statutory accounts along with the pack of information requested by the client’s auditor. The position requires strong communication, and accounting skills and an understanding of Financial Statements in the financial services industry.

JOB DESCRIPTION, SKILLS REQUIRED AND SKILLS DESIRED

Specific Responsibilities:

- Be involved in preparation of financial statements and team processes;

- Build and manage relationships with hedge fund clients and their auditors;

- Build and manage relationships with global accounting team;

- Assist in the development of best practices for the team to improve its efficiency and effectiveness;

- Design, implement and enhance policies, procedures and controls based on observations;

- Maintain up to date knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS and apply the updates to the year end process;

- Implement and maintain the training programme for the team.



Qualifications:


Skills Required:

- Qualified ACCA/CIMA/CA accountant or equivalent;

- In depth knowledge of hedge fund structures and accounting;

- Proven experience of resolving accounting issues relating to complex investment products and market valuation issues;

- In depth knowledge of hedge fund and investor level accounting including the adoption of different structures and performance fee charges;

- Co-ordinating a financial statement process for hedge fund clients including direct client and auditor communications;

- Applicants should have a record of accomplishment of delivering against tight deadlines;

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office;

- Advanced knowledge of portfolio accounting systems;

- Advanced knowledge of investor level accounting systems
