Based Wythall, South Birmingham (B47) 

Permanent Position

Ref: 2357 

Role purpose:

  • To manage and control the Business as Usual (BAU) and project income and cost base for the Sun Life and Embassy brands
  • Fully integrate the Axa acquisition for all ServCo Performance related activities
  • To support the ServCo Board in optimising ServCo profit performance and achieve its financial objectives
  • To provide a full accounting service for ServCo, including invoicing, cashflow monitoring, management reporting and financial planning

Key Accountabilities:

  • To lead, motivate and manage finance professionals to support the development of ServCo
  • Contribute to the development & implementation of Phoenix business strategy
  • To be the primary line of financial support for the BAU and project cost base
  • To take primary responsibility for the financial management process in ServCo
  • To critically review financial performance
  • To own and provide input into MI
  • Provide input into the production of the Half Year & Year End results & OFR reports on a quarterly basis
  • To lead the financial assessment of new contracts, cost initiatives and all major change projects
  • To integrate finance Business as Usual (BAU) functions of acquisitions / site integrations into the team
  • To have full accountability for the end to end processes
  • To review the accrual and provisioning processes
  • To ensure the preparation of high quality working papers and audit trails 
  • To provide financial modelling and other support for ad hoc projects and major change activities as required
  • Completing EGRC reporting and Obligations Database

 Integration activities of the Sun Life and Embassy brands:

  • To provide board reports & papers as required
  • Proactively develop, produce and manage the forecasts
  • Monitor and review all implementation costs, including detailed commentary
  • To set up and ensure a controlled process for all funding requirements between different entities
  • To oversee, design, transfer and embed any TSA services
  • To support any contractual arrangements
  • To propose & incorporate any new commercial terms and pricing arrangements

Skills, Knowledge and experience required:

  • Significant experience in the leadership of major business projects and change programmes
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Exceptional financial and commercial acumen
  • Qualified accountant with significant experience in a commercial environment
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Extensive staff management experience
  • Clear communicator being able to influence stakeholders at all levels

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with full letters
