Job Description:
The work will be shift based and covering 24x7 global operations

Technical Skills (Unix administration, Storage - backup and restores):

  • 7+ years' of experience in supporting UNIX (OS (Solaris, Red Hat Linux), hardware (Different manufactures)) administration in a distributed environment with a large number of systems (22,000+ servers) along with Storage backup and restores experience
  • Good troubleshooting skills with knowledge of key operating system concepts such as file system, disk management/partitioning, auto mounter, account management etc
  • Understanding and working knowledge of authentication and naming services (NIS and LDAP)
  • Console knowledge of Oracle servers, Fujitsu PrimePower, IBM blade and Dell/HP servers
  • Knowledge in shell/perl scripting is preferred
  • Working experience in SAN/NAS storage and key backup/restore concepts (netbackup and commvault)
  • Knowledge of VMWare ESX
  • Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts, such as NFS, routing, troubleshooting network related issues
Fundamental skills with Veritas Storage Foundations, Volume Manager, File System and Cluster server (Solaris and Red Hat Linux)
Working knowledge of servicing Incidents, service requests, production changes and problem tickets
  • Working knowledge of data center migration projects
  • Implementation experience in upgrading data center networks (Juniper networks)
  • Working knowledge of virtual server migration from one virtual cluster to another
  • Business knowledge (Banking domain)
  • Working knowledge in banking Infra especially in Investment banking and wealth management
  • Process knowledge:
  • Profound knowledge of ITIL practices, with demonstrable working experience in Incident and Change management
  • Should be able to coordinate with multiple team and provide RCA as per problem management guidelines
Managing critical incidents and restore the services with minimal downtime
  • Should be able to coordinate with teams located across geographies

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • 24X7 shift coverage with 9hours recurring shifts
  • Address incidents picked up by the monitoring systems alerting on Unix & Linux infrastructure within the stipulated time
  • Implement requests for service as generated in manual and automated ticketing systems
  • Regular verbal and written communication with business partners and other support teams to clarify details of incidents or service requests to maintain production stability and meet established SLA's
  • Write technical documentation as needed
  • Provide projects support for the Sun Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux distributed infrastructure, preferably worked in Storage Migration, DC Exit, OS Migration projects
  • Proven track record of problem solving abilities and able to use own initiatives
  • Communication Skills - Writing; Listening; Presentation; interpersonal skills; Persuasion; Ability to successfully negotiate
  • Solid ability to create positive relationships at a senior level across different groups & teams
  • Ensure prompt and smooth operation delivery
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills, capable of writing/contributing to technical
  • Team work, ability to contribute to and work in a team, as well as at times step up and lead a number of people when handling problems or incidents
