Position Overview

Overview:

This role is a role working in Production Services - Monitoring, Batch and Capacity Operations. This is a Global Operation responsible for Application Capacity Management, Batch Operations and Event Management across the Bank.
The role involves working in a Global Matrix Organization functionally reporting to the Global Head of Monitoring and Capacity in London.
The team interacts across the bank at all levels providing services to both Infrastructure and Application teams. It is enterprise scale with monitoring tools deployed on 43K Servers, supporting the Workload Automation tools to facilitate 1.7M Batch Jobs daily, managing the application Capacity alerting and forecasting and end to end Application Monitoring

Key responsibilities:
• Evaluating and fully understand the usage and capabilities of the current tool set
• Identify optimization opportunities
• Ensuring best practices of usage / adoption and coverage
• Releasing the best value from our toolsets available functionality
• Evaluate and analyze new tool capabilities
• Understand a articulate the end users changing demands and requirements
• Building innovative solutions that benefit multiple users
• Reduce duplication and waste.
• Influencing vendors roadmaps to ensure the Banks benefit
• Working on projects to meet a variety of business needs and own solution implementation ( upgrades / audit requirements / tool enhancements / automation )
• Drive Self Service.
• Work as a peer with the operational functional managers of the Monitoring ./ Batch and Capacity functions

You will have:
• ITIL certification
• Project management Skills
• A full understanding of ITSM tooling
• Previous experience of meeting business requirements and identifying optimization opportunities by effective use of tooling.
• A good understanding of all Operating systems / architecture / infrastructure / middleware
• Good knowledge of Capacity Management at both an infrastructure and application level. Ability to differentiate between application level constraints vs infrastructure constraints.
• Knowledge of (APM) Application Performance Management and analytics
• Good Knowledge of Monitoring tools covering both Infrastructure and Application Monitoring - including ITRS Geneos / IBM Netcool / CA Nimsoft / App Dynamics or similar.
• Good Knowledge of Batch Processing Operations - Control-M or similar
• Experience of managing 3rd party supplier delivery, outsourcing and contract management and vendor management
• Good understanding of testing and deployment requirements and best practice
• Experience of automating business processes / workflows

• Analytical - be able to identify and manage opportunities to automate and improve processes
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Effective at working in a Global team and used to a matrix organization
• Well organized individual with advanced operations support skills.
• Builds positive working relationships and works collaboratively with other team members
• High standards with regards to documentation and customer experience.
• Experience in a large corporate environment
• Self starter and ability to work independently
