Mainframe Operations

To work in 16x5 support Team, which involve shift work in 2 different shifts in round-robin fashion. 8 hours a shift - 5 days a week.
As requirements dictate, to service all aspects of Mainframe operations whilst adhering to in-house standards.

These tasks will include:

  • Manage Incident and problem escalations.
  • Manage application SLAs and provide status updates.
  • Work in shifts for 16X5 Support operations.
  • Manage automation systems and TWS.
  • Monitor batch jobs and weeks/monthly/yearly cycle events.
  • Perform system IPLs and other commands via JES.
  • Monitor System, CPU, DB2, CICS, MQ, network resources etc and escalate to respective Systems Support in case of incidents.
  • Support and maintain the HMC (Hardware management Console).
  • Identify and report hardware failures to appropriate vendors
  • Represent mainframe systems in Incident conference calls.
  • Execute DR procedures in case of disaster or simulation tests.
  • Monitor magnetic tape units and virtual tape libraries.
Job Requirement s

Mandatory Skills
  • 5-6 years experience in mainframe operations in production environments.
  • Highly skilled in z/OS and Mainframe operating procedures.
  • Should be able to start stop mainframe operating systems and allied software
  • Monitoring of batch jobs, abends, issues and online regions (CICS/MQ), file transfer, event management etc.
  • Issue commands on mainframe and work on its results.
  • Ensure LPARs at high availability; report incidents and escalate whenever necessary.
  • Co-ordinate with application support, DBAs, online support to resolve abends and restart failed jobs.
  • Ensure that SLAs are monitored and report if conditions arise in case of late or missed SLAs.
Good to have skills:
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Servicenow or remedy knowledge
