Our client is seeking an experienced portfolio manager to head the large Real Estate portfolio / Department based in KSA.

This job-holder will be responsible for the oversight of all the existing funds. His duties will include execution of the fund's investment strategy, communication with the fund boards and liaising with key external counterparties in relation to each fund, as follows:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Assist Head of RE in developing short and long-term departmental goals and strategies, policies, and procedures; ensure to implement the same under area of responsibility for effective operations.
2.Manage day-to-day activities of the funds under management based on the fund objectives and guidelines, e.g., investments, divestments, funding etc.
3.Selection, supervision and liaising with fund counterparties, both internal and external (such as developers and other consultants).
4.Ensure that all fund management activities are carried out in a transparent manner by following established processes and keeping within the fund guidelines.
5.Preparation of fund management updates and communication with fund boards.
6.Achieving investment exits as per the targeted returns and timeline.
7.Manage portfolio managers; review deliverables and financial models.
8.Monitor the performance of staff on an on-going basis, set the agreed goals and competencies and ensure that all staff has an individual development plan.
9.Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Performance against annual budget.
Adherence to policies and procedures.
Professional fund management and timely fund exits.

INTERNAL CROSS WORKING RELATIONS (DEPARTMENTAL):
FACO and Product Development.
Legal - To seek legal advice when applicable.
Risk, Compliance and Anti Money Laundering - To ensure that all risk assessment and regulatory requirements are adhered to and relevant documentation is provided as requested.
Internal Audit - To facilitate the audit process of the Department.
Support Services - To ensure the effective provision of HR, Finance, Procurement and IT services for the Department.


EXTERNAL WORKING RELATIONS:
Third party consultants / developers / lawyers / financial institutions / appraisers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Master's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics or equivalent.

Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
Relevant work experience and industry exposure, preferably in the Real Estate, Direct Investments or equivalent.

Skills required:
Excellent knowledge of Islamic Banking and Shari'a based financial investment products.
Strong understanding of risk management and asset allocation issues apart from investment function.
Excellent ability to analyse and understand financial returns and real estate projects.
Strong networking and relationship management skills.
Sound understanding of the local markets and current trends in related area.
