Business Unit Overview:

Within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), we pride ourselves on creating, communicating, and delivering specific investment solutions for BlackRock's insurance clients. The team has over 25 professionals with different backgrounds and expertise in the many functions that, combined, make this effort successful. These include relationship management, markets, sales, strategy, regulatory, client service, and product development next to comprehensive insurance knowledge.

FIG-EMEA operates as part of a global FIG practice which is responsible for managing relationships with the firm's insurance clients. The global FIG team manage $292bn AUM for 150 clients globally, straddling the Institutional Client Business and the Portfolio Management Group and is supported by strategists in BlackRock's Client Solutions Group, risk analytics experts in BlackRock's Solutions business, as well as wider BlackRock business groups including the Risk & Quantitative Analytics Group.

This new role provides an opportunity for an individual to become an integral member of a growing team, helping to shape the future direction of the business in a leading position in the Netherlands with responsibility for steering and driving the engagement with insurance companies.


Job Background & Responsibilities:


We are looking for someone to drive forward and lead our insurance client base in the Netherlands. The successful candidate will be based in Amsterdam and report directly into the Head of FIG for EMEA. Their activities include, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Formulate, own and execute the sales strategy for insurance companies in the country.
  • Manage and own the insurance client relationship and coordinate the senior relations across BlackRock.
  • Deliver BlackRock's full suite of investment products and services to insurance companies. Leverage a deep understanding of solutions and investment products to address unique inquiries that arise and help develop new client propositions.
  • Enable, manage and coordinate cross-channel sales opportunities to insurance companies in close partnership with internal business stakeholders by leveraging knowledge of the firm and its insurance-related expertise and by positioning a complete set of BlackRock capabilities with senior client stakeholders.
  • Engage with internal product development stakeholders and specialist sales teams to ensure that BlackRock's offering remains relevant for insurance clients and to ensure prompt delivery of client feedback to the product teams.


Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven track record in relationship management and sales with a sophisticated client base. We envisage the ideal candidate coming from either a Senior RM/Sales role within Asset Management, Banking, Investment Consulting or an Insurance company.
  • Strong knowledge of local insurance companies and their business drivers, both from an operational and regulatory as well as asset management perspective.
  • A good working knowledge of the liabilities of life assurance companies, and an understanding of the regulatory, accounting and rating agency constraints under which they operate, is essential
  • The skills commensurate with holding an actuarial, investment, risk management or technical modelling role in a life assurance, reinsurance or banking environment will be a strong advantage
  • Detailed technical product and market knowledge across capital markets, asset classes, and investment vehicles.
  • Deep familiarity with insurance regulation, both local and Solvency II, and its relevance to insurance asset management. International insurance regulatory experience a plus.
  • Strong background in project management and proven ability to deliver complex client engagements.
