Job Description
The Accelerated Value Program (AVP) team is currently looking for a candidate with technical expertise in Informix and are able to work at customer site location in Bentonville, Arkansas. Resource must demonstrate Informix technical skills and Informix hands-on work experience. Demonstrated diagnostic skills and working knowledge of unix and databases is also required.

The role requires building relationship with the customer and understanding their business operations. In addition to reactive support, you are expected to act as a trusted technical advisor that provides proactive technical assistance for migration, problem avoidance, upgrade planning, mentoring and similar activities associated with the supported systems. Any candidate must be able to work with and understand the technical operations of the customers' business and be able to assist the customer in resolving critical technical issues. The candidate is required to demonstrate leadership skills and ability to engage other technical resources within IBM (as required) to resolve issues having significant business impact to the client.

In addition to demonstrated technical skills a successful candidate should have proven customer relationship and communication skills. Organizational skills as well as managing and communicating effectively with customers are required. The selected candidate will be required to communicate with Technical Management and Executive resources on both IBM and the customer side. Ability to work in high stress time sensitive situations is also a necessary skill.

In this role you will also provide assistance and guidance to clients Database administers (DBAs) in following areas. Setup and support deployment of Informix, Migrating between releases, Install/upgrades Post install configuration, ensuring best practices are being followed. Procedures for maintenance, monitoring, backup & recovery, troubleshooting, and debugging. Apply fixes, patches and Service Packs as required and provided, keeping the environment up-to-date. Isolate issue to either Informix or external products.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 3 years experience in IBM Information Management (IM) products (Informix)
  • At least 3 years' experience in Unix / Linux/ Databases
  • At least 3 years' experience in in Customer Management (internal or external customers)
  • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
  • English: Fluent

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  • At least 6 years' experience in IBM Information Management (IM) products (Informix)
  • At least 6 years' experience in Unix / Linux/ Databases
  • At least 6 years' experience in Customer Management (internal or external customers)
