The Specialized Electronic Technology Infrastructure (SETI) team is a an organization comprising of architecture, engineering, operations and program management staff focusing on ensuring the MS electronic trading plant is operated at peak performance and efficiency with an ideal time to market.

The SETI Low Latency Trading Engineer, Asia Pacific, is a member of a small, highly focused team supporting the equities and fixed income business units across the Asian markets. This individual will work closely with business unit staff, development teams, and operations teams shaping requirements into design specifications and coordinating delivery across the region. The ideal candidate will profile and tune real-time Linux based trading applications, provide in-depth latency analyses, and recommend remediation measures to mitigate future performance issues. This candidate should be able to interact with Operations and Development teams in order to solve complex latency problems.

A strong understanding of low latency networking, Solarflare cards, Cisco and Arista network switches, time synchronization, low latency server configuration and the Red Hat Linux Operating System is desired. Working knowledge of FPGA & Co-Processor technologies is a plus. In addition to excellent verbal and writing communication skills, this candidate should have the ability to work effectively on individual tasks and work well within a team dynamic. English and Japanese language skills are required.



  • 5+ years of profiling, capacity planning, benchmarking, and performance analysis
  • 3+ years of financial services experience, preferably within the Capital Markets business area
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze technical detail and identify / resolve system bottlenecks in system and software architectures
  • Outstanding attention to detail and communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to write clear and concise technical documents in English
  • Deep understand of operating system internals and design / tuning (e.g. Red Hat Linux, Solarflare EOL)
  • Familiar with Java Debugging / Monitoring Software (e.g. JProbe, Dynatrace, Introscope)
  • Familiar with Network packet sniffers (Corvil, Wireshark)
  • Familiar with TCP/IP, networking topology, routers, switches

Bonus Points:
· Trading System Application Configuration / Deployment / Management Experience
· Familiarity with MIT Kerberos application within enterprise Linux environments as well as IP tables
· Detailed experience working with Unicast and Multicast network protocols and routing metro and regional FC networks.
· Familiarity with time synchronization methods capable of achieving international financial standards
· Familiarity or experience with the following technologies a strong advantage:
§ § NICs - Solarflare, Mellanox, ExaBlaze ExaNIC adapters
§ § Firewalls - Fortinet firewall management
§ § Corvil network analytics package
§ § Altera based FPGA using OpenCL or native programming
· Bachelor's Degree in any software or hardware engineering discipline
