Position Overview


The strategic Analytical Market Data programme is tackling cross-CB&S market data issues across the full lifecycle covering: generation, sourcing, transformation, storage, distribution and consumption. This programme is driven from an audit point highlighting deficiencies in the governance and controls across the bank's market data, as well as a need to simplify our market data management driving cost reduction by standardizing our processes. A foundational technology component in this programme is the adoption of ‘EMDS' (Enterprise Market Data Service) as the golden source for the storage and distribution of analytical market data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop on a new market data generation framework to support auto-generation of volatility, dividend and repo data in a distributed and scalable fashion.
  • Work with producers and consumers of analytical market data to on-board them to EMDS.
  • Provide automated robust diagnostics data to support tasks as required.
  • Deliver enhancements working with our core engineering team in Hong Kong and Cary, North Carolina.
  • Formulate and create Functional Specification documentation, in close working with Business Analysts and Application owners/Solution architects.
  • Create and modify business facing documentation (e.g. user manuals, solution briefs, functional summaries).
  • Support and co-ordinate User Acceptance Testing, defining testing requirements together with the Quality Assurance and Testing Team as well as the clients

You will have:
  • Customer and service orientation to support interaction with team resources and clients.
  • Working knowledge of Java & C#. Ability to demonstrate the usage of API libraries to clients and assist with technical configuration.
  • Working knowledge of basic Structured Query Language.
  • Knowledge of methods and tools used to write functional specification documents.
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and establish functional issues in production, solution testing, etc.

  • Degree educated with a concentration in Computer Science or an IT-related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment, with competing priorities to maintain a focus on the delivery of high quality well-architected solutions.

Required Skills:
  • Java backend development experience and familiarity with different java technologies & frameworks such as Spring, Maven, JUnit, Guava, Web Services/REST, Json, Log4j, Jetty, JMS, JCE.
  • C# knowledge on windows platform, preferable with Excel Addin / COM development experiences.
  • Basic understanding on Equity & Equity Derivatives business.
  • Knowledge on the below will be a plus :

    • System performance analysis
