Position Overview

The Global Prime Finance Technology team faces off to a wide range of stakeholders covering the full range of trading, middle and back office functions in addition to external clients and regulators. Our platforms support key Equity business flows including Equity Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending and Synthetics alongside platform wide portfolio, margin, regulatory and client reporting systems. Prime Finance is run as a global business with a front office, operations and technology presence in all major locations including London, New York and Hong Kong. The business operates in close partnership with other areas of the Equities franchise including Equity Trading and Equity Derivatives

We are currently seeking an experienced Java analyst/developer to focus primarily within the Synthetic Equity domain as we develop and deploy the next generation of real-time position, regulatory, equity swap and trade processing platforms whilst at the same time ensuring there is sufficient coverage for Synthetic regulatory projects driven from within the region

The role will be exciting and multi-faceted in nature and will involve regular interaction with business stakeholders both locally and globally as well as working as a virtual team with technology peers in London, New York and near-shore development centres/vendors. As such, strong communication skills are essential.

Role Requirements

Essential:

• A minimum of 5-6 years/ core Java experience including understanding of fundamental concepts such as garbage collection, concurrency and performance profiling techniques
• Experience of enterprise java concepts such as JMS, EJB and transaction management
• A minimum of 5-6 years' experience with relational database platforms and concepts (Sybase, Oracle) ideally with performance tuning and schema design experience
• Significant UNIX/Linux experience including shell/perl scripting and understanding of fundamental UNIX environmental concepts
• Must be able to work well within a pressured/dynamic environment and be prepared to go the extra mile when needed to ensure projects are delivered on time with a high degree of quality
• Good communication is essential and the candidate should be comfortable communicating with people at all levels of the organisation
• Must be a self-starter able to work equally on their own initiative and also as part of the wider team
• Ability to be able balance and manage demand from competing stakeholders

Highly Desirable:

• Prior Experience developing UI within C# / WPF
• Prior experience within Investment Banking / Equities and Prime Finance
