We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Regional Head of Cards IT.

Principal responsibilities

  • Reporting functionally into Head of Retail Products IT, is a key role in the country senior management team and responsible for planning, directing, and supporting the implementation of Group Cards Strategic objectives within the Region.
  • Serves as interdisciplinary role in IT, bridging gaps between teams of different product expertise, most notably between the engineering oriented teams and the commercially oriented teams and works closely with these teams to explain the capabilities and limitations of the current Cards platform.
  • Accountable for delivering quality solutions for supporting complex business wide decisions, high value financial improvement initiatives, sustainable costs saves products and services, creating an environment for development and capability uplift within the Region.
  • Drive the Cards product strategy, framework for implementation, and business direction of all IT services for Cards.
  • Ensure debit and credit cards' propositions, policies and processes are fair, compliant, customer centric and commercially sustainable across all brands, channels and stages in the life of the Card products.
  • Support development of regional and business and function strategy and be responsible for communicating the strategy to Global Head of Retail Products.
  • Responsible for the development and launch of new Cards products and services, in order to compete well in key segments and with new product functionality.
  • Oversee profit performance for delivery of Cards to ensure overall Annual Operating Plan is delivered and thus owning and supporting product prioritization within Global order book.
  • Adhere to the Global Standard Product range for Cards, to improve cost efficiency and allow the leveraging of Group scale and align with Group Propositions.
  • Be the Cards IT platform consultant for the Business, bringing to bear understanding of business functions and process and offering innovative solution in meeting business needs.
  • Liaise and maintain effective relationship with the bank's Operations, Service and Technology teams to support Group and Regional IT programs and strategies.
  • Be compliant with regulatory procedures, management and implementation of key audit recommendations.
  • Establish management procedures to ensure adherence to Group policies and manage operational risk.
  • Drive streamlining activity to deliver better, efficient services using Group methodologies, including Agile, Software Development Life Cycle and Lean Six Sigma.

  • University degree or above, alternatively commensurate with working experience in credit product management.
  • Proven past experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business and operating plans which consistently deliver desired results.
  • Significant experience of designing and launching new Cards products in multiple markets.
  • Excellent understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives across the Group Cards.
  • Proven ability in working across multidisciplinary and multicultural diverse work environments.
  • Strong people leadership, team work, gathering information and analyzing, judgment and decision making skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage Regional stakeholder's priorities while maintaining a Global outlook.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in an environment of changing priorities and multiple large scale projects.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is an articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
  • Experience of successful budget management and use of numerical data to assesses and report on performance and or identify business issues and opportunities.
  • In depth understanding of Group methodologies such as Agile and Software Development Life Cycle.
