Business area description

The Equities Front Office RAD/DevOps Team develops applications for the Derivatives & Cash trading desks. This ranges from applications covering a wide scope of areas such as trade management, risk and position management, pricing plus various other analytics.

The technology stack is quite vast and offers an interesting mix of Java, C#, Linux, HTMl5, Sybase, MongoDB and a few older applications in VBA.

We're looking for a new member of the team who will partner very closely with the trading desk(s), other technology teams and Quantitative Research (QR) to develop new applications that will be critical to the business.

The role offers the following interesting opportunities:
1. Partnership with Front Office whilst developing new applications.
2. Taking part in a new strategy to automate Front Office processes and functions using the latest technology.
3. A agile and delivery focused team working with global and local counterparts leveraging best in class technologies to solve business problems

5. Various business transformation projects across market/trade/client analytics, marking/publishing

Qualifications
Essential skills:

  • Good knowledge and ability to develop software using Core Java technologies or C# or C++
  • Candidates must be good in the fundamentals of programming, experience working in object oriented programming.
  • Business knowledge of simples Equity Derivatives (vanilla options, variance swaps, strategies involving vanillas): how these are used, how to price them, how to evaluate risk exposure using Greeks.
  • Alternatively, experience working in Asset Management, or Asset Management Technology
  • Investment banking experience is preferable, particularly working with Front Office.
  • Great problem solving skills for problems with a mathematical/technological background
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and work with a team
  • Good communication skills especially when describing problems and explaining solutions.

Desirable (but not essential):
  • Equities business knowledge is an advantage but other relevant experience in other business areas is welcomed
  • Experience with project management
  • Working Excel knowledge including VBA, pivot tables, formulas
  • Experience working with Windows or Linux servers, knowledge of shell scripts, crontab etc
  • Business intelligence solutions such as Qlikview knowledge is desirable
  • Knowledge of SDLC/CIT i.e. GIT, TeamCity, Junit, etc.
  • Experience working with front end/web technologies such as Bootstrap, jQuery, HandsOnTable, Highchart, WPF, GWT, AngularJS, Excel
  • Experience with service oriented platforms, and a good understanding of current generation open source frameworks
