The successful candidate must have a deep technical understanding of data collection and management processes but also possess excellent interpersonal skills to maintain and improve relationships with the wider team, data providers and clients. As an integral member of an open, dynamic and innovative team, the Data Analyst is at the operational centre of our product suites and will have a key role in helping identify and implement areas for improvement and growth within the team.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Manipulating, cleansing and processing data using Excel, Access, and SQL
  • Automating process of loading, extracting, and validation data
  • Ensuring timely and accurate generation of recurring client data deliverables
  • Handling client analysis queries, trouble shooting, and supporting internal applications
  • Data entry and auditing, creating data reports, and monitoring consistency and accuracy
  • Developing analytical database from complex data
  • Implementing improvements in data structure, gathering, maintenance, and delivery
  • Developing good working relationships with team members and wider Woodmac community

Knowledge & Experience

Must Have

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel formula
  • Understanding object orient programming concept
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency with a data programming, such as SQL, Python, R, and Excel macro
  • The ability to work closely with Research Analyst colleagues to design and deliver high quality solutions, enhancements, and data support services
  • Adhere to coding standards, best practices, and maintainability while freely knowledge sharing with colleagues where improvements can be made
  • Self-starter, comfortable working independently and to aggressive timescales as part of a dispersed, global team

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise Data Management Suite: SQL Server 2014, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Experience of leveraging web-scraping technology e.g. KAPOW
  • Other programming interests, e.g. VBA, Java, C#.NET
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS cloud technology platforms
  • Experience of sourcing Open Data through a variety of methods, including Web APIs
  • Experience of LEAN methodologies and approaches to process optimisation
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts to/from non-technical language that can be understood by technology, business users and leadership teams
