Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock's EMEA Retail business employs 198 people with over $200bn assets under management. EMEA Retail is primarily a wholesale business providing cross-border solutions to intermediaries who serve the full spectrum of privately-owned wealth across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Our clients are predominantly global and multi-national banks, wealth managers and insurers focused on delivering discretionary investment management and financial advisory services to private investors.

EMEA Retail's product proposition comprises a broad range of both actively managed and index pooled investment vehicles. The BlackRock Global Funds (BGF) range which is registered and distributed in over 22 countries across the EMEA region as our flagship offering, designed to meet the needs of a $2.37 trillion cross-border retail investment market. A UK-domiciled Authorized Unit Trust range (BFM) is also distributed in the UK to serve the needs of our domestic UK client base. In addition to its core mutual fund business, EMEA Retail aims to deliver bespoke, outcome-oriented investment portfolios to strategic partners across the region, often acting as an outsourced portfolio manager on behalf of our largest distributors

Job Purpose/Background:

The successful candidate is responsible for developing and growing the Belgian retail business in line with BlackRock's business strategy and objectives. That includes maintaining and supporting the existing franchise & client relationships as well as researching and prospecting in order to increase the share of wallet of BlackRock products, both at existing clients and new clients in the Belgian market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for client relationship management in the wholesale segment. This involves research, prospecting, client follow up and servicing. Clients include banks, wealth managers, insurance companies, asset managers and family offices
  • Responsibility for contributing to the delivery of the annual target of new assets into the active BlackRock products
  • Responsible for delivering against activity targets for calls and meetings
  • Give presentations to end-clients and the distribution networks of the Belgian client base (private bankers, IFA's, advisors)
  • Work persistently towards mutually agreeable sales and strategic goals
  • Responsible for managing all client information, activities & key contacts in a CRM tool
  • Continuously be a "student of the markets" to enhance and build investment, macro & product knowledge
  • Represent BlackRock externally at client events and industry conferences
  • Demonstrate dedication to the company and colleagues' success and contribute to the group
  • Identify new business opportunities and work closely together with other BlackRock businesses
  • Position and differentiate BlackRock and our products against competitor firms and their products
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements and standards are met personally

  • University degree and professional experience in the Belgian financial industry
  • Proven sales & relationship management experience in financial services
  • Experience in selling and/or advising on mutual funds & portfolio management is a plus
  • Exhibit in-depth knowledge on all investment products and capital markets and have a high level of comfort in communicating this information to Belgian clients
  • Strong network of existing senior client relationships across the local market within wholesale segment is a plus
