Citi is recruiting a research associate for the ESG (environment, social and governance) research team.  The successful candidate will work closely with the senior analyst with day to day responsibility for managing data, client interaction and contributing to research reports. Citi has been a pioneer of sell-side ESG research within the Australian equities market since 2006, and has consistently held the No 1 position, as judged by equities fund managers.
We are looking for a person who is passionate about ESG themes and also loves financial markets.  The role offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of the debate on ESG and interact with major investors (institutional investors and superfunds), key industry participants and Citi's sales & trading desk. 
You may have worked as a fundamental analyst (buy- or sell-side) with a genuine passion for ESG or come from an ESG / sustainability role in a financial institution, professional services firm, corporate or NGO with high financial literacy.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Undertaking research including data extraction and compilation from company reports, public sources and financial databases such as Bloomberg
  • Preparation of research for publication, ranging from managing the workflow process (formatting, collating and data-entry) to undertaking analysis and articulating investment-relevant views
  • Interact with listed companies and collaborate with Citi Research analysts to elicit information and insights for specific projects
  • Organizing the logistics of Citi-hosted ESG events for institutional clients
  • The ethical standards contained in the Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative requirements


Qualifications

Key Competencies/Skills
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Post-graduate qualifications in finance i.e., CFA, MBA, Masters, Chartered
  • Accounting would be an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years' experience either in investment analysis (buy- or sell-side) or an ESG-related role with a significant financial focus.
  • Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to articulate investment-relevant insights and research in written products
  • Financial accounting and analytical skills to review annual reports and financial statements would be an advantage.
  • Highly motivated with a work ethic to sustain working under time constraints and managing priorities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Exceptional attention to detail with an appreciation for balanced, methodical and rigorously supported analysis.
