Exchange Connectivity - Team Lead (C++)


SIG are currently seeking a Connectivity Team Lead in our Connectivity team to develop and maintain applications, utilities and libraries related to low latency exchange connectivity and real-time market data processing.

The Connectivity Team Lead manages all development tasks related to exchange connectivity, order routing, mass quoting and real-time market data. This role works closely the Trading Systems Team and the Head of Technology taking responsibility for all connectivity systems, development and deliverables. Their main objective is to deliver quality systems with an emphasis on reliability and low-latency. The role is focused heavily on technical leadership, as well as team and task management.

We are looking for technical specialists with strong C++ experience and a knowledge of low latency systems, coupled with an excellent knowledge of Modern C++.

Technical Skills/Leadership

  • Provide people management & leadership to staff
  • Take responsibility and guide the direction and growth of the team
  • Ensure processes and procedures for development and testing are of a high standard and are adhered
  • Encourage a culture of best practice and high standards
  • Manage and review system changes to minimize business risk

Project Management
  • Take responsibility for the team tasks
  • Work with the business and Head of Technology to determine priorities
  • Manage the task list reporting progress and expected delivery dates
  • Motivate staff to be results focused and meet deadlines
  • Monitor and communicate progress/issues to the Business and Head of Technology

Team Development and Performance
  • Provide feedback on performance to team members and Head of Technology
  • Maintain staff leave schedules to ensure delivery and coverage
  • Complete half/yearly performance reviews for all staff
  • Responsible for dealing with poor performance
  • Actively involved in hiring, interviewing and the onboarding process
  • Responsible for bonus recommendations (low-expected-high) in conjunction with Head of Technology

You will have a background and knowledge of exchange connectivity, order management systems and/or market data, and demonstrate a track record of managing a highly technical software development team primarily developing in C++ on Linux.
